Work Package 5

​District heating infrastructures: The objective is to develop and verify district heating designs in dense, low-energy and lowtemperature district heating areas taking into account smart energy network technologies, heat storage, energy flexible buildings, decentralized supply options and networks, and fuel-shift solutions. 

Tasks include:
  • District heating performance
  • District heating flexibility
  • Operation of heat stores to obtain maximum benefits from the electricity and heat markets
  • Optimizing temperatures in low-temperature district heating networks
  • Optimal supply of low-energy districts, through centralized district heating or island district heating
  • Scenarios and recommendations for Nordhavn 2025, 2035 and 2050 district heating development
